Men’s Breakfast, Saturday September 18 7:30-9:00 am
New to Faith? Long time member? Curious of why guys get out of bed early on a Saturday morning? Whether new or not so new, young or old, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that a group of guys can get together, eat breakfast, and discuss Christian principles as guys. I invite you to bring a friend or a family member or come on your own. Day Four

It was another early morning for all nine of us. We didn’t need to bribe our fellow workers with food but extra coffee was on hand as we showed up to the work site ten minutes early! (I knew we would finally get the hang of this whole schedule.) We split up into our work groups and finished out our time here with determination. We left the work site yesterday with many tasks halfway done so there was a certain spring to our step to finish it before we needed to say good-bye. Nick and I finished the porches we started yesterday and finished up the back siding of a house that was already half done. Michael and a future homeowner Julie, helped us finish measuring and nailing the last few siding panels and really speed the process up. We have all felt such a great sense of accomplishment and our bruises, cuts and blisters are evidence.

Today during our group time we all reflected on the times that we saw God in our lives this week. Many of us said times when we could see everyone come together and work for a great cause. Today I was reminded of a saying I heard when I was on one of my first mission trips. ”When you hear someones heartbeat you know two things. The first is that they are alive; and the second is that they love. Every time we nailed shingles or mixed concrete or took a water break, our hearts pounded. Reflecting, we all realized that every time the homeowners make dinner or laugh as a family or relax in their new home, their hearts will beat as well. This week we didn’t just build houses, we built homes; we didn’t just show our love, but God’s.

Overall we have had a spectacular week and one that will always be remembered in our hearts (and maybe by some scars). Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us this week and for our safe travels tomorrow. It will be another early morning, and a few coffee stops will need to be made along the way.
